I have been involved in photography for around 42 years now. Initially I tried to capture landscapes, animals and people, colors and shapes with the simplest equipment. Soon I developed my own ideas and abstract photography mixed with reportage and portrait photography. My career move from agriculture to the wide world of aviation opened up new horizons for me. Instead of backyards, I increasingly photographed skylines, and instead of animal portraits, more and more of the people around me. I was always looking for a new field of vision and new perspectives.

Through commitment, supportive fellow human beings and fortunate circumstances, I found my way into press photography. Via the Berner Bund and the Baumann photo agency, I made the leap to Keystone, Switzerland’s largest photo agency in Zurich, in 2000. Since then, my aviation photos in particular have repeatedly found their way into the press via this channel.
In 2001, I witnessed the Swissair grounding. I was traveling with a crew in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and I had the privilege of taking the historic picture of the Swissair pilot on the Copacabana. A picture that has since not only gone around the world in countless publications, but is quite simply synonymous with the biggest Swiss economic debacle. I won the Swiss Press Photo Award in the topicality category for this photo.

In recent years, my photographic field of activity has increasingly shifted to advertising photography. The assignments from the business world are very diverse. The various photo assignments with and for people, on location but also in the studio, black and white, in color, sometimes calm and quiet, sometimes extreme and flashy – just like life. The portrait of a CEO on the same day is mixed with the photographic assistance of a secondary school student for her final project. The kind of challenges I love!

In December 2019, my book Super Constellation “Star of Switzerland” was self-published. A project that has now accompanied me for 15 years and I am proud to say that with this book I have created a memento of the only Super Connie that was ever enrolled in Switzerland.

In December 2020, I was commissioned by President Guy Parmelin to create the official Federal Council photo for 2021. Another picture for the history books – the production during the pandemic will also remain a very special memory for me!

2023 – I spontaneously took part in the EqualPYXX photo challenge organized by EqualVoice together with Ringier and Keystone. I won two of the three categories, which once again honors my photographic work!
